EU/EEA Student Visa Requirements

EU/EEA students do not need a visa to study in Ireland. You can legally stay in Ireland as long as you:

  • Are enrolled in a recognized study program, and
  • Have sufficient financial means to support yourself, and
  • Have health insurance (EHIC)

You don't need to register with immigration or apply for a residence permit — unless you are a non-EU family member joining you.

To apply for the Study Permit, you will need:

from your university (a DLI)

Proof of Identity

e.g., passport, birth certifcate, national identity card

Proof of Funds

to cover your tuition fees & living expenses

Proof of English Language Ability

to indicate you can read, speak, write in English

Private Medical Insurance

arranged either by your university or yourself

Proof of Fee Payment

of your tuition fees to your university
